Wildcat Hills Homeschool Programs

The Wildcat Hills homeschool programs will meet once a month at 10am MT at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center. Certified staff will lead various programs each month that will showcase a different theme; focusing on ecosystems, animals, adaptations, and habitats found only in western Nebraska. Activities will focus hands-on learning and observations, targeted to your students’ learning. These programs will be conducted rain or shine, so be prepared for the unpredictable Nebraska weather! A valid Nebraska Game and Park Entry Permit will be required for this FREE program. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Learn all about their adaptations and local research projects being conducted. October 12, 2023– Web Walkers Spiders are amazing predators that are skilled in stealth, camouflage, and engineering. Discover more about our eight-legged friends during this program. November 9, 2023– Bighorn Sheep Uncover the secrets about these hard-headed animals, their amazing adaptations, and research being conducted. December 7, 2023– Powerful Pine Pretty, prickly pines! Come and learn about their unique seeds, leaves and root system used for living in the Wildcat Hills. 2024 January 18, 2024– Purrrfect Wildcats Wildcat Hills is home to several different types of wildcats! Let’s uncover the big cats that call this area home! February 15, 2024– Dark Skies Most of us are familiar with air, water and soil pollution, but too much light at night can also be a form of pollution. Let’s reveal the benefits to dark skies! March 14, 2024– Powerful Prairie Dogs Discover the role prairie dogs play in the prairie ecosystem and the habitat they provide. April 11, 2024– Frog, Toads and Salamanders Join our amazing education animals for an interesting live animal program focusing on our amphibian friends.
